The Sp3d Printing Contest is an online contest with the intent of rewarding skill, ability, and creativity; that is sponsored by Scalar Prints 3D, a California company located at 775 Sunrise Ave, Suite 135, Roseville, CA 95661. The contest is governed by these Rules. For any questions regarding the contest, the Sponsor may be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The purpose of this contest is to select one (1) winner, who will receive a prize in the amount of $50. All contestants will be required to enter into separate agreements and releases for the purposes of promotional advertising on the Sponsor’s website and social media portal; including but not limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
SUBMISSION PERIOD AND DEADLINES:
The entry period of Sp3d’s Printing Contest for Comic Book Characters begins Monday, July 18, 2016 at 8:00 AM Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends at 5:00 PM PT on Friday, August 26, 2016 (the “Contest Submission Period”). The Sponsor’s computer will serve as the official time piece for the contest. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
The contest is open to individuals who (a) are at least 18 years of age or older, [Minors under the age of 18 years old may have their entry submitted by a parents or legal guardian who is at least 25 years of age or older], and (b) are a legal resident of and physically residing in one of the following states:
Alabama; Arizona; Arkansas; California; Connecticut; Delaware; Florida; Georgia; Idaho; Illinois; Indiana; Iowa; Kansas; Kentucky; Louisiana; Maine; Massachusetts; Michigan; Minnesota; Mississippi; Missouri; Montana; Nevada; New Hampshire; New Jersey; New Mexico; New York; North Carolina; Ohio; Oklahoma; Oregon; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island; South Carolina; South Dakota; Tennessee; Texas; Utah; Virginia; Washington; West Virginia; Wisconsin; Wyoming.
HOW TO ENTER:
There are two ways to enter the contest, as described below. Either way, all entries must comply with the entry, formatting, or content requirements identified in these Rules. It is each participant’s responsibility to ensure compliance with these requirements.
(1) Each participant who meets the eligibility criteria set forth above, must design a 3D print and use the promotion code: Sp3dPrintingContest082616CBC, to enter the contest on the Sponsor’s website, www.sp3d.us, and receive a 10% discount on their order.
(2) Or participants may submit a picture* of their final printed product by emailing email@example.com with the Subject Line: Sp3dPrintingContest082616CBC.
*It is recommended that you submit several pictures of your print from various angles to give the judges a full view of your entry.
ENTRY SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
All entries must comply with the following technical requirements:
-Made of ABS or PLA plastic material. (Contestants must provide proof of material; i.e., receipt from manufacturer; if submitting an entry via email)
-Be of a size >10 inches cubed. (Contestants must provide proof of size, with a ruler as a reference guide within the picture, if submitting an entry via email)
-Be identified as inspired by the contest theme.
-Suitable for family audiences and worldwide web display.
-Must be received by the Sponsor during the Contest Submission Period and no later than 5:00 PM PT on Friday, August 26, 2016.
-Submissions must be received through the Sponsor’s website, www.sp3d.us, with the promotion code: Sp3dPrintingContest08262016CBC; or as an attachment in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: Sp3dPrintingContest08262016CBC in the format of a.png, .jpeg, .bmp, or.gif; [.jpeg formats are preferred].
-Must include the participant’s name, email address, age, city, and state of residence; (optional picture of self).
-Entries may include electronic components to design concepts, (which could greatly improve scores in the Design Complexity and Creativity portions of judging).
WINNER SELECTION PROCESS:
Judges will determine the winner by assigning scores based on a 1-10 scale for the following categories:
(1) Design Complexity and Creativity
(2) Design Execution
(3) Compliance to Theme
Each category will be weighted differently:
Design Complexity and Creativity count for 40% of the score and will be judged based on:
Clear evidence of extensive planning and forethought that was put into the design.
The inventiveness and creativity of the design itself.
Design Execution counts for 35% of the score and will be judged based on:
How clean and smooth the edges and surfaces of the final product have been made.
How precise the measurements and dimensions have been constructed.
Compliance to Theme counts for 25% of the score and will be judged based on:
How clearly discernible it is that this design was inspired by the theme.
In the case of a tie, the winner will be determined based on the timeliness of each submission. In other words, whoever entered their submission first will be declared the winner.
The judges will be assigning scores and determining the winner have extensive backgrounds in the following areas, qualifying them to be capable, fair, and knowledgeable judges for the purposes of this contest:
7+ years experience in manufacturing engineering
2+ years experience in 3D printing engineering
Including thorough knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD data, as well as various slicers.
The winner will be determined on Monday, August 29, 2016 by 12:00 PM PT, and notified by the Sponsor no later than Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 5:00 PM PT. The winner will have until 1:00 PM PT on Friday, September 2, 2016 to accept the reward and make arrangements to have the $50 prize sent out by the Sponsor.
If the winner fails to respond to the Sponsor by the deadline stated above, he/she will be determined disqualified and a new winner will be chosen.
HOLD OF MATERIAL:
All contest material, including winners’ names, entry submissions, and contest rules will be held for a minimum of 4 years by Sp3d for legal and tax purposes.
Sp3d is required by law to report any prizes to the IRS as income to the winner in a FORM 1099-MISC.
Except where prohibited by law, the Prize Winner shall be required to grant the Sponsor the perpetual and irrevocable right and license to use his/her name, biographical information (including city and state of residence), photograph of entry, photo of his/herself (if provided), and any other information contained in his/her entry on a worldwide basis, and in all forms of media now known or hereafter invented or discovered (including, without limitation, on the Sponsor’s web site), in perpetuity, without further compensation, notice, review, or approval.
